We’ve all seen the ads. The polished “guru” promising a seven-figure lifestyle, usually by teaching you how to sell the exact same “seven-figure lifestyle” to someone else.
For years, I sat in those rooms. I’ve invested tens of thousands of pounds into high-level coaching programs. But the more I looked under the hood, the more I noticed a troubling pattern: Most business coaching is predicated on coaches selling to other coaches.
It’s a closed loop. The strategies taught—the high-pressure webinars, the “hustle” culture, the relentless Instagram posturing—work great if your target audience is another aspiring entrepreneur. But what if your clients are senior leaders? What if they are florists, school teachers, or massage therapists?
What if your clients are real people living real lives?
The Trap of the “Corporate Carry-Over”
When I left my corporate leadership career five years ago, I brought my baggage with me. I was addicted to the high-stress, high-productivity pattern. I escaped the office only to build a self-imposed prison of “busy, busy, busy.”
It took me until 2023 to realize I was running a six-figure business but failing at the one thing I left corporate for: Freedom.
I had to stop following the “hustle” blueprints sold by people who didn’t understand my audience. I had to go back to my roots in consumer insights, sales, and branding to build something different.
Why “Standard” Marketing Fails the Integrity-Driven Business
If you are trying to reach a busy, senior professional woman, she doesn’t have time for a 90-minute “free” webinar that is 80% fluff and 20% pitch. She isn’t scrolling Instagram looking for “boss babe” quotes.
The techniques that dominate the coaching industry often lack sophistication. They rely on:
- Pressure Selling: Forcing a “yes” through artificial scarcity.
- The Pyramid Effect: Strategies that only work if you are selling business opportunities.
- The 24/7 Grind: The idea that if you aren’t “on,” you aren’t earning.
The 20-Hour Work Week is Possible (Without the “Bro” Tactics)
Today, my business looks very different.
- The Schedule: I work 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, four days a week. I’m there for the school run. I’m present for my kids.
- The Market: On Thursdays, you’ll find me at the organic market, not chained to my desk.
- The Revenue: I maintain a solid six-figure income.
I achieved this by moderating “standard” coaching advice through the lens of deep consumer insight. I stopped treating my leads like “prospects” and started treating them like humans with complex lives.
Moving Beyond the “Coaching for Coaches” Loop
For two years, I’ve had an itch to share this framework. I held back because I didn’t want to be another “coach teaching coaches.” I didn’t want to be part of the machine.
But then I realized: The industry needs an exit ramp. There are so many consultants and business owners who are struggling because they are trying to fit their high-integrity business into a “bro-marketing” box. They want to grow, but they don’t want to lose their soul (or their free time) to do it.
I’ve boiled down the “shape and frame” of how to build a successful, sophisticated business that serves real-world consumers—without the objection handling, the pressure, or the hustle.
The goal isn’t just to make six figures. The goal is to be able to afford the life you actually want to live, at a pace that allows you to enjoy it.
Are you tired of the “hustle” blueprints that don’t seem to work for your specific audience? I’m looking to have a few more conversations with business owners who want to scale with integrity. Would you like to hear more about the framework I’m building?
